The goods: Thasos brings a taste of the Aegean to Fort Lauderdale.

Ambience: Co-owners Gus Leontarakis and Sophia Mylona have crafted a slick, breezy dining room with marble countertops, polished concrete floors, a communal table, molded plastic chairs and projectors beaming photos of the Greek islands.

The grub: Rustic Greek home cooking with a small-plate focus.

Prices are reasonable: starters $6-$11 and mains $16-$29.
Begin with house-made flatbread and olives, then share green hummus, whipped feta with chiles, fire-roasted eggplant spread, fried zucchini chips, feta and watermelon salad or halloumi cheese with quince jam. Vegetable dishes include roasted beets in skordalia (almond dip), “horta” dandelion greens and Brussels sprouts with pork belly, while mains feature whole lavraki (sea bass) filleted tableside, scallops with orzo and lamb chops with fingerling potatoes.

Finish with Greek yogurt panna cotta, a phyllo-wrapped sifnopitta or baklava.

Verdict:  Ouzo cocktails and a sleek, modern backdrop for rustic Greek cooking.
