Street Chic: Maile Rodriguez
Meet Maile Rodriguez — she keeps her look classic and fresh with a little bit of rock n' roll tossed in.
Meet Maile Rodriguez. A fixture at Miami’s hippest events, Rodriguez keeps her style classic with an edge. We spotted her at the recent Lorie Lester boutique opening wearing Lester’s leopard print blazer — here’s what she has to say about her personal style and why high-waisted jeans are best left in a dark closet.
Name: Maile Rodriguez
Profession: Director of Business Development, TARA, Ink.
Born and raised: Coral Gables, Florida
The outfit: Lorie Lester leopard print blazer. “I love Lorie’s stuff. It’s rock n’ roll and feminine at the same time,” Rodriguez says. Alexis Bittar star necklace. “I got it on gilt.com. I’m addicted to Gilt Groupe! Literally. It’s a problem,” she adds. LNA white T-shirt and vintage Chanel purse. “My parents got the purse for me when I was in high school. I never wore it then and now I wear it all the time,” she says. J Brand jeans and Loeffler Randall shoes bought at Saks for a steal.
What is your go-to store? “Gilt Groupe! I love to shop online and Gilt has the best deals on designer duds. I don’t have time to go shopping anymore,” Rodriguez says.
You've just inherited, $2,000 where are you splurging? “Online at AA.com. My husband and I are planning a trip to Bali,” she says.
Best in shoe: “Jimmy Choo — they are gorgeous and comfortable!” she says.
IT handbag: Marc Jacobs.
Fave jewelry designer: Alexis Bittar.
What one item are you eyeing to purchase for winter? “A Burberry London trench — a classic with an updated cut. The one thing I’ve really got my eye on but couldn’t possibly purchase is the Fendi reversible fur vest. It’s the definition of pure luxury!” she says.
Closet staples: Jeans and pumps. “I live in jeans and I feel a beautiful pump can always transform your look from casual to chic,” she says.
What is the biggest fashion faux pas in your opinion? “Wearing something that clearly is not appropriate for your body or age,” Rodriguez adds.
What is the worst trend you ever trend? Shoulder pads and high-waisted jeans. “I really sympathized with Jessica Simpson when she was ridiculed for wearing those high-waisted jeans. Unless you have a stick figure or very long legs, they are not flattering,” she adds.
