Long before there were young urban dwellers, a happy hour scene and anything close to being called a village in Brickell, there was Deli Lane. Twenty years after opening on the edge of the banker’s district, Deli Lane moved in early July to a new location closer to the heart of the action. Same menu, new setting. The neighborhood staple is now back in a shady courtyard next to Sushi Siam.
Breakfast and lunch are really Deli Lane’s thing, but there are some decent choices for takeout or dinner on the run. Stick to traditional deli items, such as the Reuben and turkey melt, or some of the healthy options that define the menu, including the turkey burger and the lettuce wrap, with sesame chicken breast tossed with veggies in Thai sauce with iceberg lettuce leaves and peanut teriyaki sauce.
Salads can be hit or miss. Our greens were fresh, but the croutons stale in a side salad on one recent visit. The spicy Thai salad didn’t have the kick we wanted. But a respectable key lime pie, made in house, finished the meal with a smile.
Look for a few new additions to the menu later this summer, when “fit life” options suggested by local trainers — grilled dolphin with chutney and steamed veggies and jerk shrimp salad — are supposed to make their appearance.
