South Florida chefs going whole hog April 1 in Cochon 555 competition

Get ready to pig out. Cochon 555, the heritage-pork cook-off, has announced the venue and contestants for its first South Florida event. Michelle Bernstein (Michy’s), Aaron Brooks (Edge Steak & Bar), James Petrakis (The Ravenous Pig), Michael Schwartz and Bradley Herron (Michael’s Genuine) and James Strine (Café Boulud) will face off April 1 at the Four Seasons Miami. Tickets to the “epic pork feast” at 5 p.m., featuring wines by Elk Cove Vineyards, Scholium Project, Sokol Blosser, Chehalem Wines and K Vintners, are $125 (4 p.m. VIP admission $200) at www.cochon555.com. The winner will represent us in the Cochon 555 finals at the Aspen Food & Wine Classic in June.
