Avatar didn't do it for you?

Then check out Tom Ford's A Single Man. Ford directed, co-wrote and co-produced the film. It has earned strong reviews - it opens Christmas Day - and has received Golden Globe nominations for its score and the performances of Julianne Moore and Colin Firth. Firth won the best-actor prize at the Venice Film Festival for his performance as George Falconer, a gay Englishman in Los Angeles mourning the death of his longtime lover in a car accident.

Sounds like a Debbie Downer, but the film is beautifully shot and gay storyline is a welcomed change from the typical holiday movie fodder. Check out the trailer on youtube.
