New York City's "Queen of the Night," Susanne Bartsch, returns to Miami for another one of her notoriously sexy parties. Aside from surprises (the last Bartsch party we went to had ballerinas on stilts and clowns in suits made of teddy bears), this one features open bar and canapés from 9:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. under the stars. Guests will be treated to a countdown performance by Bartsch herself and special guests.

Bayfront Park's New Year's Eve
Bayfront Park
Tickets: Free
Aside from hosting or attending a house party to ring in 2009, this is our Recession Approved pick. Starting at 8 p.m. there will be a free concert headlined by Latin Grammy nominated group, and Miami's house band, The Spam Allstars. Betty Padgett & Elements of Funk will also perform, and DJ Tarik will spin disco. At midnight watch "Big Orange" ascend down the side of the Hotel Intercontinental leading up to a fireworks display over Biscayne Bay.
LOL
New Year's Eve with Jo Koy
Miami Improv
Tickets: $57.50
Maybe the best way to ring in the New Year is to laugh the old one away, and there's no better place to do so than the Miami Improv. With dinner included in the price of admission, and comedian Jo Koy providing the laughs, all you have to pay extra for are your drinks. There will be a champagne toast at midnight as you watch the ball drop in Times Square, and a live DJ and dancing follow right after.
Tradition

South Florida-based rock band Grindstone takes over at 8:30 p.m. on one of two music stages. Party favors will be passed out at 10 p.m. and at midnight the NYE ball (8-feet in diameter with 7,400 lights) will drop 75 feet and ignite a five-minute fireworks display.
