Welcome to November – time to eat and drink yourself into a frenzy. Charity dinners, cocktails for a cure, Thanksgiving prep, food & wine pairings and more await. Start tonight with a Taste of the Design District and graze throughout the month – we’ve got everything from bison burgers to lobster risotto lined up.

Hollywood gets sultry this season as Satoro Restaurant & Lounge opens its Mediterranean-inspired kitchen to the nightlife-loving crowd. Equal parts lounge and restaurant, the places pleases the party crowd (2am closing time, Friday ladies night, etc) as well as the dining crowd. Broward critic Rochelle Koff walks away impressed by oxtail soup, Florentine flatbread and wood-fired grouper.

Sara Liss argues that “every neighborhood deserves a Charlotte Bistro,” while Victoria Pesce Elliott calls the French Gables outpost a “sassy little flirt.” We think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Chef Elida Villarroel dishes out eclectic French fare, spanning the predictable (restrained French onion soup), the avant garde (soy glazed tuna) and the divine (Venezuelan chocolate soup). New England heads south this month as restaurateur Ken Lyon (Fratelli Lyon) opens the Cape Cod Room at the Bath Club. Formerly a members-only space, the intimate restaurant is now a clubby homage to seafood open to the public. Nosh on addictive churro-shaped corn bread, dig into Cape Cod Qauhog Chowder, mini lobster rolls, codfish stew or lobster potpie, and finish off with Indian pudding, shortbread cookies and a piece of saltwater taffy (naturally). 5937 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, 305-864-1262

High brow pizza hits the Design District (again) courtesy of just-opened Mai Tardi (Italian for “never late)). Do we need another temple of cheese, sauce and crust? Sara Liss leans towards yes in her First Look at the new space. Sealing the deal? Moderate prices, scenic al fresco dining, half a dozen bottles of wine under $20 and over 20 varieties of light and thin-crusted pizzas...

Unlimited meatballs, artisanal cheese and pizza – oh my! Our appetites are expanding as we wind down October & prep for high season. Midtown welcomes two new restaurants, Joey’s pairs pizza with Italian wines, Talula introduces Meatball Wednesdays, Caviar Kaspia gets a bit happier and Sra. Martinez launches a $22 three-course lunch. Time to start eating…

Airport dining revamps this season as Cane Fire Grille debuts at the Miami Airport Marriott. Billed as a “contemporary and casual eatery,” the restaurant serves up a South Floridian extravaganza. Chef Joe Natoli reports that the menu blends Floridian, Native American, Caribbean, Cuban and South & Central American influences. Look for entrees like mojito-marinated shrimp with black beans & coconut rice and sea salt-crusted NY strip chimichurri with yucca planks. 1201 NW LeJune; 305-649-5000 x6091

20-year-old Bimini Boatyard has seen its ups and down alongside its 17th Causeway location. Turns out fancy cars, mega yachts & over-the-top people watching come & go, but waterfront dining and sweeping views stick around. New owner Steven Hudson is pitching Bimini Boatyard 2.0, fresh with a new chef & makeover. Broward dining critic Rochelle Koff checks it out...

Fast, cheap & local Mexican food arrives on the Biscayne corridor courtesy of brand new Salsa Fiesta Urban Mexican Grill. The “uber modern” 1800-square-foot space is clean, crisp and standing by to dish out classics like beef, chicken & fish fajitas, tacos and burritos. Ingredients are said to be all-natural and made fresh daily. We’re particularly excited about the house-made guacamole and the Durango Burrito (cilantro-lime rice, shredded cabbage, mango relish, salsa, sour cream and fish).
