Once a pizzeria, PS 14 is now a downtown gathering point for artsy types and hardcore bohemians, most clad in the hipster uniform of Converse sneakers and a striped tee. The bare-bones club houses a pool table, retro red lamps, a couple of leather couches and a small stage where rockers, rappers and breakdancers take turns in the limelight. Classic Tarantino and old school flicks play on plasma screens in the patio, a cozy space enlivened by graffiti murals, bamboo fencing and wicker chairs. Music alternates from indie rock and pop to old school hip hop depending on the night. Salvation, its monthly Gothic themed night, will draw in new-wave and metallic rock lovers with songs by The Cure and Nine Inch Nails.
