Loafer lovers, listen here: Miami-based footwear and accessory brand for both men and women, Del Toro, will open a pop-up shop in Miami Beach to coincide with Art Basel Miami Beach. The temporary store will run through March 2014 and serve as a platform to launch new products and collaborations, expand current product lines, and enhance the overall consumer experience with the evolving Del Toro lifestyle brand. For the inaugural collaboration, Del Toro’s Co-founder and Creative Director Matthew Chevallard is teaming up with Italia Independent’s Founder (and Fiat heir) Lapo Elkann to create custom-designed sunglasses and matching Chukkas that reflect the combined aesthetics of both brands.
Del Toro Miami Beach pop-up is located at 2000 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Phone: (786) 516-2852. Store hours: Mon-Thu: 11am-9pm; Fri-Sat: 11am-10pm; Sun: 12pm-8pm. (Special hours during Art Basel: 10am-11pm daily).
On Wednesday, December 4th from 6 to 9 p.m., Del Toro and Elkann will host an exclusive cocktail event during Art Basel to inaugurate the new Miami Beach pop-up shop and celebrate the launch of the Del Toro X Italia Independent collaboration line.
Del Toro will also host a Wynwood Block Party on Thursday, December 5th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at its headquarters in The Wynwood Building (2750 NW 3rd Ave, Suite 22 Miami, FL 33127). On display will be custom 1/1 original hand-painted shoes in a variety of Del Toro silhouettes by approximately 50 artists from around the world. Full mural walls by six famed artists — including Stash, Evoca1, Michael Vasquez, Johnny Robles and Magnus — will be unveiled to commemorate the debut of Del Toro’s Art Basel collection. To top it off, barbecue bites will be prepared by Henry Hane, former chef of Eating House, as well as a live musical performance by an undisclosed special guest.
Slipper savants everywhere, rejoice!
