The goods: Miami Heat chef Michael Jacobs has opened The Hidden Kitchen, a covert supper club ensconced in a Miami Beach condo building.
Ambience: Tucked into the party room at the storied Imperial House condominium (Meyer Lansky lived there), the Hidden Kitchen is outfitted with pool views, blonde wood high-top tables, metal bar stools and Heat memorabilia.
The grub: Eclectic. Jacobs invites a rotating slate of chefs to host 20-person, invitation-only underground dinners. Menus vary by chef, but include cocktails and several wine-paired courses. Prices range from $75 to $130 per person
A recent dinner included passed smoked brisket bites, orange-spiked gazpacho, Chinese five-spice foie gras with plantains, miso-marinated grouper with red curry and seared scallops with chorizo succotash. More casual menus have featured truffle mac and cheese, brisket bark, slow-roasted pulled pork sliders and turkey sliders with avocado mousse.
Verdict: An underground supper club helmed by the Heat’s private chef.
