The goods: Barock is an ambitious new Ocean Drive spot with a European pedigree.
Ambience: Czech father-daughter team Tommy and Jessica Sjöö, who operate the 25-restaurant Pravda hospitality group in Europe, have given the multi-level space a cozy feel with upholstered banquettes, low-slung tables, candles and dangling crystal chandeliers.
The grub: Global eats with an Asian focus. Starters are $6-$18, mains $14-$28.
Small plates include vegetable spring rolls with chili sauce, coconut cured lobster and Tom Yam soup. Mains include a Creekstone organic burger with pineapple chimichurri sauce, a brioche bun and crisp shoestring fries; pan seared duck breast with chocolate-jalapeno sauce; sea bass baked in a banana leaf and organic skirt steak.
End on a sweet note with ginger crème brulee or coconut ice cream.
