Daniella Smith is an architect and purse designer
With both of her parents as architects, it was unavoidable that 25-year-old Coral Gables resident Daniella Smith would follow in their footsteps. Yet, constructing buildings isn’t the only thing she is good at. In fact, the Pratt Institute graduate has proven her skill as an accessory designer with her purses by making into the pages of People Español not once, but a few times.
Her label called D.SGNS features hand-made clutches, iPad cases, straw beach bags fashioned out of leathers, studs, prints, tassels and chains. “It has become another avenue to articulate my passion for design, fashion and communicate my background as an architect, my customs and my ethnicity,” said Smith. Her line retails from $30 up to $250. They are sold at the Biltmore Hotel’s shop Habit Boutique in Coral Gables, Outfit Boutique in Puerto Rico and 11th and Chic in Santo Domingo as well as online at www.thedsgnsshop.com.
