Where have the Sony Ericsson tennis stars been hanging? We've got the scoop.
Vogue’s editor-in-chief
Anna Wintour was in Miami to watch her
other obsession,
Roger Federer, play in the Sony Ericsson Open. They dined with a group of friends, including Federer’s wife
Mirka, Saturday night at
Prime Italian, sharing an assortment of dishes including the restaurant’s massive meatballs.
Speaking of Federer, after one of the most anticipated matches of the Sony Ericsson —
Rafael Nadal vs. Federer — it seems that the two tennis titans had worked up the same appetite and dined at
db Bistro Moderne at the
JW Marriott Marquis Friday night. Neither had an idea the other was there. Federer, who got crushed by Nadal, went all out ordering the lobster salad, duo of beef and a rhubarb tart.
More tennis players — about 30 of them — stayed at the
EPIC hotel during the tourney. Among them was
David Ferrer, who is under scrutiny after firing a tennis ball at a crying baby in the stands.
Celebrating her Thursday win over
Andrea Petrovic,
Maria Sharapova hit
Morton’s Miami with her family for a dinner of lobster bisque, single-cut filet mignon and a glass of sauvignon blanc.
In town producing
Charlie Angels,
Drew Barrymore took 14 crew and production members to
China Grill for a festive feast Friday night. The group enjoyed a long dinner in the private Dragon Room, and, says our source, Barrymore “was very casual and had little or no makeup on.”
Following their Wednesday night show at
BankAtlantic Center, members of
Rush had dinner Thursday night at
Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink. Vocalist
Geddy Lee, guitarist
Alex Lifeson and drummer
Neil Peart were seen sitting outdoors enjoying the food and scenery.
Ferran Adrià, the renowned Spanish chef, also had dinner at Michael’s two nights later, and was overheard in his native language raving about the food.
On Friday night,
Prime One Twelve was athlete central as Dolphins legend
Dan Marino dined with family and friends. While he wasn’t catching passes from Marino, current wide receiver
Brandon Marshall ate dinner a few tables away from New York Jets player
Santonio Holmes and San Francisco 49er running back
Frank Gore.
Also Friday,
Robert Downey Jr. strolled through the
Sagamore with a female companion, taking in owner
Cricket Taplin’s art collection and lunching by the pool. We’re told Downey was very accommodating to guests, posing for pictures and autographs.
Finally, spotted Tuesday night at
Zuma: singer
Trey Songz.
