Emilio Estefan will join TV host and bestselling author Brad Meltzer, Miami Dolphins’ CEO Mike Dee and some other high-powered folk at City Year’s Annual Red Jacket Ball Saturday night at the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, where they’ll also be vying to be DJ for a day on Power 96. “I just heard they were auctioning off the right to be a DJ,” Meltzer said of the item that will bring in money for City Year, the charity that has 82 young people spending a year doing full-time service in Miami’s toughest schools. “I don’t care if I don’t own a football team. I’m gonna win it for all the bald people with no rhythm. It’s a very underserved minority.” City Year has been embraced by everyone from Presidents Obama, Bush and Clinton and even Nelson Mandela, who personally asked for it to come to South Africa. In Miami, it was co-founded by Meltzer and his wife Cori by using profits from his books and TV show. The goal is to tackle the 50 percent of students likely to dropout.
