Edward who? When it comes to sexy vampires, the Twilight hunk has nothing on The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, who paid a visit to Miami recently for a meet and greet at The Shops at Sunset Place.
No blood was spilled at the autograph signing, though the event left some a little tone deaf. Hundreds of screaming girls attended the event for a chance to snap a pic of the Salvatore brothers.
One lucky gal was even kissed on the hand by Somerhalder, and yes, more screams ensued. We chatted with the hotties before they took the stage for a Q&A with fans. Not only are these two actors easy on the eye, they're also playful and funny.
How has life changed since you've been on the show?
Paul: I can't sum up into a short enough answer for you. But in one word, I'd have to say very surreal, in a good way.
Having thousands of female fans lust after you must be pretty cool.
Paul: Ian's used to it. I'm a little confused and shocked about it.
[To Ian] You beating out Robert Pattinson in EW's Sexy Beast poll is a big deal.
Ian: I drugged all the fans, that's what happened. Just kidding. It was really cool, but it's all the fans. Did you hear Matt Davis' song (Alaric from The Vampire Diaries) that he put on YouTube about it? His YouTube name is Ernesto Riley, and he recorded a song about the whole sexy beast thing. It's hilarious. I highly urge you to go look at it.
What can we expect this season?
Ian: The boys are sort of getting thrown in a different situation. My character Damon was the villain last year, and Stefan had to deal with him.
Paul: Well, you're not really the villian anymore.
Ian: I know. Stefan has brought Damon to the other side to be a unlikely hero with his brother.
Are you guys exhausted after meeting all these fans?
Ian: It's actually kind of invigorating in a way.
Paul: We work 15 to 16 hours a day until 3 a.m. so signing autographs for us is not really a big deal.
What other film projects do you guys have coming up?
Ian: Nothing yet. We need to get on that.
Paul: Yeah, but nothing together, OK?
Ian: Could you imagine 12 straight months of you?
Are you guys single?
Paul: I don't really discuss my personal life.
Ian: Well, we're not together. I tend not to discuss my personal life either because it's not really addressed that much. I don't think people care.
But your fans in Miami want to know.
Ian: I'll talk to them when they're at least 18.
The Vampire Diaries airs 8 p.m. Thursdays on WSFL-CW 39.
