Alejandro Escovedo wants to sing for you
Alejandro Escovedo is a tour junkie. The Tex-Mex musician spends most of his time on the road. "It's rough most of the time. It can be rather lonely being separated from the people you love." But his fans make it a worthwhile experi- ence. "I love playing for people. Interacting with the audience is what it's about." On Sunday, Escovedo and his band will perform at the tailgate concert during the Dol- phins home opener against the N.Y. Jets. It's his first time playing for the football crowd. "I'm a big fan of baseball and never been to a game before so I'm pretty excited." If you're not familiar with his music, give it a listen. With a sound similar to Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, Escov- edo knows how to rock. On Sunday, he'll play some tunes from his latest record, Street Songs of Love. "I wrote the album after a breakup. It's a collection of songs about heartbreak, anger, lust, passion and desire," he says. "There's not a lot of strings or horns. It's me stripped down."
