This Saturday dozens of the independent galleries in the Wynwood Art District open their doors for their Second Saturday Gallery Night, each venue offering their own exhibitions, entertainment, refreshments and vibes. Visitors can wander to many of the galleries located in the blocks between NW 20th and NW 36th Streets west of N. Miami Avenue.
It's hard to get to all of the venues unless you plan to spend your entire night walking, but here are a few places with what appear to be interesting offerings:
This month's highlights:
'Secluded' by Jipsy
Photographer/videographer Jipsy is well-known for documenting the nuances of South Florida’s nightlife, but her exhibition ‘Secluded,’ which opens at 7 p.m. at The Workshop during Saturday night’s Wynwood Art Walk is an immense departure from her previous work. ‘Secluded’ showcases a different, darker side of Jipsy’s photographic range, presenting a visual narrative that follows a sophisticated city girl as she transitions from her fast-paced, exciting urban lifestyle into the doldrums of suburban ennui. Complimentary cocktails will be thrown into the mix by Mandarine Napoleon.
171 NW 23rd St., Miami; info@Workshopcollective.
Wynwood Squat
This Saturday's Art Walk celebrates the launch of Wynwood Squat, a free giant pop-up which features 40 plus designers, artists and entrepreneurs with monthly rotating art and video installations, live music and DJ, specialty cocktails and bites. The event will also feature Fashion for a Cause, a series of photos of local fashionistas and bloggers donning a shirt designed by Miami.com fashion writer Annie Vazquez that will be sold to raise money for The Florida Foundation for Breast Cancer.
