Spend your evening at Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA 1855 Griffin Road, Dania Beach, Florida) DCOTA, Tuesday January 12, for a night of high design and philanthropy celebrating the fourth annual Stars of Design Awards, and the opening of the inaugural DCOTA DesignHouse.
At 5 p.m., join the South Florida design community as it honors its most distinguished design luminaries, including: Vladimir Kagan (Lifetime Achievement), Sam Robin (Interior Design), Max Strang (Architecture), Robin Hill (Photography), Nicholas Varney (Jewelry Design), Carlos Betancourt (Art), Jeff Blakely (Landscape Architecture), and Laura Paresky Gould (Graphic Design).
At 7 p.m. during a private reception, guests will be the first ever to view DCOTA DesignHouse - a 9,000 square foot, 15 -room penthouse, featuring the work of 14 top design firms, thousands of décor concepts, which benefits three premier cultural institutions: Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, Norton Museum of Art, and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
Tickets: $100/individual ticket, $150/pair of tickets, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting your choice of one of the three beneficiaries.

Barry University will celebrate its 70th anniversary at its annual Founders’ Ball on Saturday, January 16, at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa (4400 N.W. 87th Avenue) in the Legend’s Ballroom. This year’s event, a Polynesian themed “South Seas Adventure,” will be emceed by CBS 4 personality Jim Berry. The Polynesian voyage will feature the mysteries of the South Pacific encapsulated in an elegant and memorable evening. The festivities begin at 6:15 p.m. with a cocktail reception courtesy of GREY GOOSE Vodka and a silent auction followed by dinner and dancing at 8. Ticket prices range from $300 to $500.

On January 16, An Affair of the Arts: Downtown Deco benefiting YoungArts - the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) - will take place at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts (174 E. Flagler St.) starting at 6 p.m. The evening begins with a concert where a select group of YoungArts awardees will perform, alongside Desmond Richardson, a 1986 YoungArts winner in Modern Dance, a Presidential Scholar, and one of the great modern dancers of our time.
The party continues across the street at the Alfred I. DuPont Building, where guests will enjoy dinner, tour the exhibits of the YoungArts visual artists and dance the night away.

Pawpurrazzi 2010, an event to benefit the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet, is scheduled for January 22. Pooches and their favorite peeps will take over Jungle Island for an unforgettable night of fun, food, fashion and music. All four-legged guests will enjoy pampering, doggie makeovers, an ice cream bar and a gourmet buffet. The highlight of the event is sure to be the “Great Pets Who Walk in Front of Great People” show where select guests and their dog(s) walk the “catwalk” for the runway show.
