Elle Gives Back
Elle magazine’s Personal Style Awards will be held on October 13.
The event features an exclusive fashion show organized by Elle editors who are honoring top Miami trendsetters. After the show, guests can shop at select Bal Harbour boutiques (9700 Collins Avenue) for a good cause - a percentage of the sales will be donated to charities personally selected by the honorees, including Community Partnership for Homeless, Honey Shine and Voices for Children, and others. The event takes place on the second floor of the mall, across from Tiffany, and goes from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Saks Key to the Cure
To help raise both money and awareness for women’s cancer, Saks Fifth Avenue Dadeland (7687 North Kendall Drive) will host the 2009 Key to the Cure charity-shopping weekend from October 15-18. A percentage of the weekend’s sales will benefit the new Baptist Health Breast Center.
To launch this year’s shopping event, the store will host a Key to the Cure kick-off celebration on October 10 with special guest shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti, Zanotti will sign pairs of his designs in Saks Dadeland’s shiny, stylish, brand-spanking new 10022-SHOE salon on the second floor. There will be champagne, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and, of course, shopping. Saks will also offer a limited-edition Key to the Cure t-shirt designed by Michael Kors – available beginning October 1 and retailing for $40 in Saks stores, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores and on saks.com. Over 80% of the proceeds from each shirt sold will be donated to local charity partners. Supermodel Heidi Klum is the 2009 Ambassador for Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key to the Cure. In support of this program, Ms. Klum will appear in a national public service announcement (PSA) wearing the Michael Kors limited-edition t-shirt. No word on whether “Mrs. Seal” will show, but we can hope, can’t we?

Walk, Run, Sleep for the Cure
On October 17, join the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® at Bayfront Park (301 North Biscayne Boulevard) in Downtown Miami, which includes a 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk, Tot Run and Celebration. The fun starts at 7:30 a.m. (registration at 6 a.m.) with an inspirational Survivor Procession and Ceremony. Haunted Fun- Sundowner at Vizcaya
The Halloween Sundowner at Vizcaya, (3251 S. Miami Avenue) one of Miami’s most popular Halloween parties, returns to one of the nation’s most beautiful historic homes on October 24, at 8 p.m. Guests will be treated to premium liquor, beverages, and crunchy snacks (read: eat before going or buy food at the makeshift food court) and music while mingling with 2,000 fellow costumed revelers.
There will be a costume contest, so be creative! This party, hosted by the Vizcayans, is for adults 21 and over only and will take place rain or shine. All guests must show a photo I.D. to enter. On October 24th, there will be a Main Street March through the streets of Miami Lakes, (6842 Main Street, Miami Lakes) from 9 to 11 a.m. (registration starts at 8 in front Tony Roma’s) to show support for breast cancer awareness. On October 29, The Spa at Shula’s will host the Pink Cocktail Hour and the Pink Auction from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Participants can indulge in a variety of spa amenities, a signature Pink Cocktail and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres throughout the night. Patterns for Paws
Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA 1855 Griffin Rd.) and select showrooms of DCOTA will host Patterns for PAWS, a canine fashion show and luncheon on Wednesday, October 28, starting at 11:30 a.m. with a champagne reception. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. while the pups take to the runway to show off couture apparel and accessories, created from the most luxurious fabrics found within DCOTA.
