The sandal trend seems to be here to stay, and Miami is leading the pack with a wide selection of fashionable flats. Whether you prefer gladiators or classic flip-flops, we have scouted out a few shops that will have you covered and your tootsies stylishly uncovered.
Tuccia di Capri
Located off Lincoln Road, behind Sushi Samba, Tuccia di Capri offers unique and glam footwear. Once inside the bright, vivacious space, you’ll instantly be mesmerized by the rows of handcrafted sandals. Choose from existing styles such as “The Jackie” after Jackie Onasis, “The Helena,” named for Helen of Troy, or the signature T-strap. Or, custom-design your own: first, pick the sole (flat, wedge, or kitten), then the color (think every shade under the rainbow) and finally the look (the hardest part of the process due to the endless possibilities and jewels to choose from). Whichever you decide, Tuccia's on-staff cobblers will hand-mold the shoe of choice specifically for your foot. The entire process takes about 25 minutes, with the cost for an original ranging anywhere from $150 – $500. This includes any tune-ups (i.e. resole, restrap, loosen or tighten) as needed.
Tuccia di Capri, 1630 Pennsylvania Avenue, Miami Beach, 305-534-5865.
Shoes to You
Located just off Bird Road in the Arts District, this adorable shop is so reminiscent of a fairy-tale that you may even hear yourself reciting the old nursery rhyme “there was an old woman who lived in her shoe” under your breath. Yet, the low prices certainly are not make-believe. Pick up a pair of Jamie Kreitman floral-printed flips for $39 and trendy Chinese Laundry flats for $45. And just because the price tags are low, doesn’t mean the kicks aren’t up to date. Other popular brands include Matisse braided thongs, hand-beaded Zig Girl, Dolce Vita’s leather slip-ons, jeweled Mystique sandals and even strappy flats by Betsey Johnson, Michael Kors and Juicy. No matter what part of the store you explore, or which look turns your head, thanks to Owner Kim Stone’s eclectic collection there are more than a few ways to rock out with your toes out.

Just opening its doors last May, Miracle Mile’s latest addition is for the footloose and fancy-free shoe addict (and we do mean fancy). Housing some of the most elegant, sexy footwear in the city, Dulce, Italian for “sweet,” stays true to its name. The small space is adorned with some big names, all carrying major industry-cred. Top sellers include designs by fashion heavyweights such as Georgina Goodman’s retro-inspired sandals as well as ruffly, ultra girly flats by Pour la Victoire. Transplants from L.A. and New York, founders and owners Rebecca Brothers and Evelyn Lozada bring a stylish mix of East and West coast with them to South Florida. While you’re there, snatch up a cool pair of vintage-inspired aviators, literally staring you in the face at the checkout, to leave looking chic from head to toe.

Label lovers on a budget will definitely want to make a stop over at this hip shoe boutique. Stocked with plenty of designer soles such as Coach, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, Bernardo, Sam Edelman and Juicy, owner Tammi Silver strives to keep her shop on top of the latest looks. Mission accomplished. Treat your feet by slipping on a pair of suede, fringed Jessica Simpson flats or a colorful pair of Tory Burch rubber flip-flops. Most importantly, make sure not to leave without visiting the far wall, where all shoes, including some of the season’s newest lines, are all marked 50-70% off. “I will always keep more sandals than heels in stock,” says Silver. “We’re in Miami, afterall.”
