A little bit of the Old Country on South Beach, the Playwright is part of a small, three-location chain (there are also two restaurants in Connecticut), but don't let chain-eatery-aversion discourage you from the Guinness beef stew, corned beef and cabbage or "Irish breakfast" (served til 6 p.m. with Irish bacon, Irish sausage, etc.). Sit at the long bar or a table, play pool, watch sports on one of eight TVs. Music is supplied by a DJ on weekends.
