This week is full of celebrations. Get your body on the dance floor and work up a sweat while you party at two favorite hang out spots as they celebrate anniversaries, then get ready for fun in the sun as you take in house and electro music at two festivals going on this weekend. It’s a busy first week of June- here are my top party picks this week.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6
Lil Jon at LIV
4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Lil Jon is taking over Dirty Hairy at LIV, the wildest midweek party where you’ll find yourself dancing to a mix of electro, house, rock, and hip-hop mixed by local favorites DJs Ruen, Contra, and Jessica Who. If you haven’t checked out this party, you definitely need to swing by. Doors open at 11pm, dress code is strictly enforced and you must be 21+ to get in.
Other events at LIV this week include Calvin Harris on Thursday, Tiesto on Friday, and Fedde Le Grand on Saturday.
THURSDAY, JUNE 7
Get Low 3-Year Anniversary
30 NE 14th St., Miami
Get ready for a celebration! The Vagabond is celebrating their 3-year Anniversary of their weekly Get Low party with special guests Goth-Trad, Truth, and resident DJs Juan Basshead, Ashworth, A-Train and more. Enjoy $1 Colt 45’s, $5 Cuba Libres and prepare to rock your dubstep hearts away. Doors open at 10pm, you must be 18+ to get in, cover is $10, and dress code is laid back and casual.
FRIDAY, JUNE 8
Jazid 16th Anniversary
1342 Washington Ave., Miami Beach
The popular live music venue Jazid on South Beach kicks off the weekend of festivities to honor their 16-Year Anniversary. Friday night special guests Locos Por Juana will take the stage along with Dangerflow followed on Saturday with a performance by Jahfe and Spam All-stars. Doors open at 10pm each night and you must be 21+ to get in. Admission is $20.
EDM Fair at the Awarehouse
550 NW 29th Street, Miami
House and electro music will be rocking all day and in to the night at the Awarehouse grounds for the 3-day Electronic Dance Music Fair starting June 8 through June 11th. It’s an all-age festival featuring 5 stages and over 300 DJs and performers throughout the weekend. Tickets are on sale for this weekend starting at $20. For more information go to Wantickets.com.
SATURDAY, JUNE 9
Rio Music Conference at Arkadia
4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Brazil invades Miami! Well, the Fontainebleau at least. Arkadia’s weekly pool party going to be taken over by some of Brazils biggest named DJs such as Gui Boratto, Dubshape, Michel Saad, and more. It’s going to be a whole day of fun in the sun with house beats rocking to keep you dancing until 11pm.
Tickets are currently $60 in advance for the guys and $30 in advance for the ladies. Doors open at 4pm and you must be 21+ to get in. For ticket information click here.
MONDAY, JUNE 11
Good Mondays at Haven
1237 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach
Say goodbye to your Monday blues with cheap drinks, no cover, and a chill, laid-back crowd. Head to Haven Lounge on Lincoln Road and start the new week with a healthy dose of classic hip-hop hits mixed by Miami’s own DJ Damaged Goods. Doors open at 10pm, and you must be 21+ to get in.
