There’s a little something for everyone from album release parties, new events that launch this week, and of course great acts like Afrobeta, Eddie Thoenik, Thomas Gold, and more. This week my Party Patrol takes you north and south, so get ready.
THURSDAY, JAN. 12
The Breaks Premiere at CHALK
1234 Washington Ave., Miami Beach
Adding to our weekly line-up, Chalk Ping Pong and Billiards Lounge launches its Thursday night event - The Breaks. This week make your way to Chalk for a night of classic hip-hop and top party hits mixed by DJ DBJ and hosted by Mayday’s own Bernz. Doors open at 10 p.m. with no cover. CULTIVATE Thursdays Launch at Mokai
235 23rd St., Miami Beach
If you’re in the mood for some dancing check out the preview party for the upcoming launch of Cultivate Thursdays at Mokai Lounge featuring music by Miami favorites Lazaro Casanova and Dsan Powell. For all my techno music lovers this is surely an event you don’t want to miss. It all kicks off at 11 p.m.

DWNTWN Concert Series presents ArtOfficial, Jahfeì, and Afro Kumbe
301 N. Biscayne Blvd., Miami
One of the greatest advantages of living in Miami is all the outside concerts and this week we are in for a special treat. Friday night at 6 p.m. before hitting the clubs grab your lawn chairs, your friends, and a cooler with drinks and head to the Bayfront Park for the DWNTWN free concert series featuring local Miami bands Afro Kumbe, Jahfeì, and ArtOfficial. This concert is open to the public and happens every second Friday of the month from October to April.
Eddie Thoneik at Arkadia
4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
For some upbeat house music make your way to Arkadia for special guest Eddie Thoneik as he takes over the decks with hits like “Serenata” and “Love Sensations”. Get ready to dance the night away alongside some of Miami’s young trendsetters for another episode of Disco Sh!t.
Doors open at 11 p.m. You must be 21+ to get in and dress code strictly enforced and admission is at the discretion of the doorman.

Album Release Party for Novalima Karimba at PAX
337 S.W. 8th., Miami
Step away from South Beach and head to PAX (Performing Arts Exchange) to catch a special LIVE show by Latin Grammy nominated artist Novalima performing some songs off their upcoming album Karimba, such as the hit, “Festejo”. Be there for their U.S. Tour kick off and CD release event featuring special guest Mr. Pauer. The show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets prices are between $25 and $30.
Afrobeta Rocks the Green Room
109 S.W. 2nd Ave., Fort Lauderdale
Another great option outside of South Beach is in Fort Lauderdale at the Green Room. This week Country Grind and The Green Room launch their new live music series featuring tasty eats, great musical acts, and some fantastic drink specials. To kick off the series dance music duo Afrobeta will be performing LIVE alongside other artists such as Sumsun, Boxwood, Astrea Corporation, and more. It all kicks off at 8 p.m. and admission is only $5.
You can also catch Afrobeta perform LIVE alongside resident DJs Run Sevim Run and Bonnie Beats at the Vagabond on Friday night with no cover before 11 p.m. and fantastic drink specials untill midnight. Doors open at 10 p.m. For more information send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Thomas Gold at SET
320 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach
I saved the best for last. This week party it up with one of my favorite new artists on the rise - DJ Thomas Gold. After hearing his set at Pacha NY, there is no way I’m missing him tear it up in my own backyard and neither should you. Head over to SET lounge and dance the night away as he throws down a mean set with a bunch of unreleased tracks along with chart-topping hits such as the remix to the Adele track, “Set Fire to the Rain” and more. It’s going to be an amazing night!
Doors open at 11 p.m., dress code is strictly enforced, and you must be 21+ to get in. Table reservations are highly suggested (Pre-sale tickets are already sold out for this event).
Don’t end your weekend on Saturday, head back to SET on Sunday and close out your weekend with special guest DJ Arty.
