Formal, yes. Stodgy, no. The stunning and historic Biltmore Hotel's Palm d'Or with its crisp white leather chairs, potted palms and vintage black and white photos is a classic. French-born chef Philippe Ruiz holds forth with a delectable small-plate menu complemented by a stunning wine list with more than 260 selections, including a dozen by-the-glass options. Seasonal selections might include lobster foam, foie gras terrine, braised beef or pompano. Service is exceptional.
