Out and about: Siren @ Creme Lounge

Score is one of the few (if not only) openly gay bars on Lincoln Road (and when I say gay, I mean gay). Let's hear it for the boys -- they've been able to establish themselves on the trendy, overpriced strip with their $5 frozen cosmos and generous cocktails. But the boys at Score are doing a decent job of giving it up for the women, too, with Siren (on the second floor) on Saturday nights.

You're bound to see new faces every week, and Siren is great at putting on a good theme party. Think you're a rock star? There's a night for you. How about getting a salsa lessons from drag queens? Yep, you can do that, too. Want to be handcuffed and spanked with leather whips? No problem!

Siren is casual, considering the location, but not casual enough to let you in for free - even if you're a cute little lesbian diva. Only way to avoid paying the cover charge: befriend the bartenders so they can put you on the list or beg the owner to put you on. $8 isn't such a big deal, though. So, try not to go overboard with the whining.

If you haven't seen a good female DJ since the '90s, check out the girls at Siren. Some of the best nights to go: Rockstar Saturdays with DJ Citizen Jane and any night featuring DJ Lisa M. If you're tired of mainstream music, or at least want to mix it up a bit, this is one of the few not-so-hectic bars to check out. Don't worry straight girls, you can still get in and get jiggy. The lesbians won't bother you too much. Plus, you can always go downstairs to check out the boys with perfect t-shirtless bodies.

Parking is a hassle -- wouldn't be SoBe if it wasn't -- and the dance area can get a bit crowded (although for some, this may be a good thing), so be sure to get there early, park at a meter and have dinner (we suggest Pizza Rustica a few doors down) before partying it up. Be nice to the bartenders and they'll be nice to you. Don't try to coerce the door girl or the security, it won't work. Introduce yourself to the promoter, she'll have your back if something goes wrong. Order well drinks: they're not moonshine, and they're much less expensive. Put in song requests to the DJ, she'll listen. Take a stroll by the DJ booth, the hottest ladies hang around there. And dance by the bar closest to the door, it's less crowded and better ventilated (and there's less smoke).

This isn't a night owl party, so you don't have to arrive at 2 a.m. to find life. You're okay with 11 p.m. -- 10:30 even, especially if you're worried about making Sunday brunch. You don't have to rub elbows with the boys if it's not your thing, either (though I highly recommend you do, they're fabulous). Siren takes the "separate but equal" approach - boys on the bottom, girls on the top (as it should be) and a few in between. It's the stomping ground for gay women looking for a sweet distraction, a girlfriend, a conversation with no strings attached or a few good men.
