St. Patrick's Day, Miami style

The luckiest day of the year is upon us, and with a little help from the Irish, you too can be as happy as a leprechaun. Here's a pair of four-leaf clover choices for enjoying your love for all things green. If you're on the corner of 13th and Washington on South Beach, you can get all the 'Irish Car Bombs' you want: this is the first St. Patrick's weekend with rival Irish bars across the street from each another.
John Martin's Street Fair, 253 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables
When: 4 p.m. to midnight
The king leprechaun of Miami's St. Paddy's celebrations is at this annual street fair that features live music, authentic Irish food and drinks until midnight along Salzedo Street and Aragon Avenue in Coral Gables. The event is free and open to the public.
Waxy O'Connor's Fest, 1248 Washington Ave., South Beach
When: 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the new Waxy O'Connor's. Today, Vertigo USA (a U2 Tribute band) plays from 7 p.m. until late.
Playwright Pub's Party, 1265 Washington Ave., South Beach
When: 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday
With its recent expansion, instead of a street party the pub's St. Patrick's Day party will stay indoors, with drink specials and a pair of live bands. At 5 p.m Bushmen (a rock band) takes the stage, followed by Ultra Violet (a U2 cover band). A DJ will take over after and provide the beats until 5 a.m.
St. Patrick's Day Celebration at Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami.
When: 5:30 p.m., tickets: $25
The Green Room Society presents this St. Paddy's Day bash with live entertainment, Irish eats, green beer and revelry in celebration of the patron saint of the Emerald Isle.
Irish Beer and Barbecue Night at North One 10, 11052 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami.
When: 5:30 p.m.
Features a dinner of chicken wings, grilled shrimp skewers, corned beef and cabbage, lamb stew and roasted corn on the cob with Irish whiskey bread pudding and Guinness chocolate cake.
St. Patrick's Day at Flanigan's, all locations.
When: 11 a.m. - 2 a.m.
The restaurant chain celebrates with traditional Irish fare, including corned beef, cabbage and carrots plus Jameson Whiskey drink specials.
St. Patrick's Day at Duffy's Tavern, 2108 SW 57th Ave., Miami
When: 11 a.m. - 3 a.m.
Green beer, corned beef, live band, bagpipers, giveaways and T-shirts for the kids are all in store at this local favorite.
St. Patrick's Day at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, 1 Seminole Way (exit Stirling Road), Hollywood
When: 10 a.m. - 6 a.m., $5 charge for all after 7 p.m.
Features dance performances by The Kathleen Roundeau Champion Irish Dancers and a U2 Tribute by Ultra Violet. Party continues with a performance by Funkette at Murphy's Law Irish Pub.
