While cranes and skyscraping buildings have usually been the staple of this downtown Miami financial district, the area is now bustling with nightlife way past happy hour. Closed streets due to construction and limited dining options to dine might've kept you and your sweetie away from a date night in Brickell, but there's no reason to avoid it now. Just don't forget a fistful of quarters for the meters.

Start your date off right by visiting the romantic Vizcaya for a laid-back slice of South Florida history. Formerly an estate built in 1910s, the grounds feature a breathtaking mansion and 10 acres of lush greenery where you can escape the noise of the city. Have a bite at the café overlooking the pool, and after strolling hand in hand past Italian sculptures and taking notes on the dazzling interior and exterior decor, you'll both be inspired to scour some thrift shops for your own piece of Vizcaya-inspired design.

After taking in some pretty scenery under Miami's sunshine, it's only natural that couples would start seeing visions of cold beers dancing in their heads. Brickell has its own spot for fresh brews with Gordon Biersch. Grab a seat on the patio and order the beer sampler, which features cold ones such as a seasonal brew and a dark lager, while listening to live music, which this spot offers often.

Now head over to Brickell's outdoor shopping and dining center Mary Brickell Village. Peruse boutiques such as Green Grass and then relax for a light dinner of crispy cheese, spicy tuna rolls and Zen Martinis at the Latin-Asian fusion spot Abokado (901 South Miami Ave; 305-347-3700). Afterward, indulge in a guiltless sweet treat at Roma Organic Gelato before walking over to nearby Red Bar Gallery for a nightcap and to check out the original artwork for sale while listening to Latin and pop rock music. Cocktails and culture: It's this perfect date's ending.

there is something very cheap and 19 year old frat boy (in a 30 year old body) and/or 9th year college student about Brickell these days.
Brickell is a nice spot, especially with these sugesstions but one of my fav spots to go with my date has always been Bayside. Have a nice dinner at the new Knife or Lombardis or if you want to go a little cheaper you can go to Chillis ir Hooters just as well. After dinner you can walk around all the shops and then get a nice Daquiri and sit and look out at the bay while you listen to live music that usually plays at the marine stage. i think its very MIAMIish.. ...
