Nicky Hilton
By Mollie Rose
Paris Hilton may be looking for her new BFF on MTV’s new reality show, sister Nicki Hilton was out on the town here in Miami recently where she hosted the second night of the re-launch of nightclub Karu & Y in Downtown, Miami. The club’s new owner put almost $10 million into the property. It now has a Vegas-feel with a new Champagne Room, Buddha Club and Buddha Gardens, not to mention the 3-D tv’s and an original Chihuly.
Nicky, How did you get involved in this event?
I was invited to come down and host it, and I’m a big fan of Miami. Haven’t been here in a while so it was the perfect opportunity.
What do you like to do when you’re in Miami?
I love the restaurants. The nightlife’s great. Shopping’s great, the beaches and the hotels. I love it all.
What’s your favorite restaurant in Miami?
I’m definitely spotted at Nobu at the Shore Club often. Tonight I went to Philippe at the Gansevoort which was really good. I hadn’t really been there yet. I usually go to the restaurants down on Collins Avenue.
Over the years, you’ve been described as a fashion designer, a fashion model and a socialite. Which do you think describes you best?
Fashion designer. Right now I’m finishing up my line for fall and it’s definitely got a little rock/80’s inspiration going on
Your birthday’s coming up next week. Do you have any big plans for that?
Yeah, I’m going to be in Vegas and the following week I’m going to do something more intimate with my friends and family.
You were offered a spot on the Simple Life with your sister Paris. Why did you decide to turn this down?
It’s really not my style at all. It didn’t appeal to me. I’m a pretty shy person in general so the thought of cameras following me 24/7 was horrifying! I could not do that!
