Are you ready to assemble some furniture or add some fab to your pad, South Floridians?

Lucky for you, IKEA will open in Sweetwater, Florida at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014.  It will be the Swedish company’s second store in South Florida (Broward County’s IKEA Sunrise opened in 2007), fourth in the state and 39th in the United States. For the super fans, customers can begin lining-up at the store on Monday, August 25, 2014 – 48 hours in advance of the doors’ opening on August 27 – and can learn of more grand opening plans and promotions at IKEA-USA.com/Miami

“Construction work has advanced far enough to allow the interior build-up process and finishing details to be complete by August 27,” Store Manager of the future IKEA Miami Selwyn Crittendon says.  “Now our primary goal is the final training of the more-than-350 local hires joining the IKEA coworker family.”

The 411? The 416,000 square-foot future IKEA Miami, with its nearly 1,500 parking spaces, is located on 14.6 acres adjacent to the Dolphin Mall, at the intersection of the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) and Florida’s Turnpike, in the City of Sweetwater.  The store will reflect the same unique architectural design for which IKEA stores are known worldwide, as well as significant sustainable building practices, including the installation of South Florida’s largest rooftop solar array, consistent with the company’s 90% solar presence atop its U.S. locations.

IKEA Miami will feature nearly 10,000 exclusively designed items, 44 inspirational room-settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area, and a 600-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties such as meatballs with lingonberries and salmon plates, as well as American dishes. Other family-friendly features include a "Children’s IKEA" area in the Showroom, baby care rooms, play areas throughout the store and preferred parking.
