Mikan Japanese Restaurant

About

Tucked into a building in the Brickell area that also houses the Japanese consulate, this plain but elegant second-floor spot specializes in skillfully prepared and beautifully presented sushi, sashimi, rolls, tempura and soups. Start with steamed shumai or seafood soup. Udon soups with thick wheat noodles in dashi broth can make a meal, especially nabeyaki served in a earthenware pot and topped with a poached egg and tempura shrimp. Ther’s also cold tofu salad in ginger dressing, risotto with brown rice, butter and porcini mushrooms, hand roll specials and broiled steaks, salmon and lobster and a selection of sakes, plum wine and Japanese beers.
