Wynwood businesses reopen after Zika scare

Wynwood wants visitors to know it’s open for business.

Several businesses that closed in light of positive Zika tests in the area have reopened after conferring with Miami-Dade County. Miami Culinary Tours, which hosts weekend tours at various restaurants on the weekend, will resume its tours of Wynwood restaurants this weekend. And the Wynwood Yard reopend on Aug. 10.

“We want to continue showcasing what a marvelous part of town Wynwood is,” founder Della Grace wrote in a statement. “We have always been in the business of uplifting communities and showing the public the very best that Miami has to offer.” 

The Wynwood Yard, which had at least one employee test positive for Zika, gave away free food samples from the several business that make their home in the open-air, multi-purpose area on Aug. 12.

The Wynwood Yard is hosting a free reggae party kicking off artist Bachaco’s world tour Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. with food and drinks. A full schedule for daily activities and dining events can be found at www.thewynwoodyard.com/new-events.

Miami Culinary Tours is taking the extra precaution of providing insect repellant for it’s customers for its two-hour tours to five Wynwood restaurants and art galleries and murals. The $69 tours can be booked at www.miamiculinarytours.com.
