Say hello to MIFFecito, Miami International Film Festival’s (MiamiFF) mid-season “taste” to next year’s Festival. It’s a festival of 10 films that encompasses what to expect for MiamiFF 2015. MIFFecito is being held exclusively at the Tower Theater which has undergone renovations including wooden floors and new state-of-the-art screen/projector equipment.
In honor of this teaser, the festival will be hosting a pop-up food/drink shop at the theater crafted by the Latin food gurus at Tinta y Café.
Don’t expect popcorn and soda at these screenings, instead look forward to classics from the Tinta repertoire including:
- Pastelitos with fillings of guava, cheese and beef
- Croquetas de Jamon
- Pressed Sandwiches: El Patria – ham, pork, swiss cheese, mortadella, pickles and mustard.
- El Gallego – prosciutto, cantimpalo, manchego cheese and tomato.
- La Calena – prosciutto, turkey, manchego cheese, tomato, red onion, fresh cilantro and cilantro mayo. Served with a side of plantain Chips
There will also be plenty of Cuban coffee in all its wonderful manifestations including cafecitos, cortaditos, coladas and of course café con leche. Desserts of homemade flan round out the sweet offerings.
The owners of Tinta will be partnering with vintage furniture purveyor Las Tias to transform the Tower theater’s concession with eclectic “Old Florida” style furniture to create a cozy backyard lounge vibe similar to the style of the café’s original Calle Ocho location.
Hours will run during movie times.
