Although a rep shot down the rumor that J&G Grill was leaving the St. Regis Bal Harbour because hotel execs were miffed that Jean Georges Vongerichten would be opening another restaurant a little too close for comfort in Ian Schrager’s Edition hotel, we are now hearing that not only is this so true, but that Zuma would be replacing the resto and expanding its presence in So Flo. We contacted a St. Reege rep and a Zuma rep and are waiting for official confirmation, but in the meantime, several independent, off record reliable sources tell us it’s a done deal. Stay tuned.
Update: A St. Reege rep holds firm, saying: “The resort is committed to its partnership with the Culinary Concepts team and has no plans to change the J&G Grill dining concept at this time.”
A rep at Miami’s Zuma replied, saying “Zuma can absolutely confirm that there will not be another Zuma Restaurant in Miami.”
But does that mean there won’t be another, say, steakhouse concept by the folks responsible for Zuma? That’s another story.
