It doesn’t take long to see why Miami is world renown for having some of the most beautiful people on earth, as gorgeous and glamorous Miamians grace the beaches, streets and cafes. Keeping your body looking great is something akin to a full time job for most locals, so filling a craving for sweet treats can be a gasp (and guilt) inducing event. However, if you find yourself longing to satiate that sweet tooth, here are some scrumptious spots for making that delectable (and kosher) splurge worth the calorie fest.
A hidden find, but totally worth scavenging for, this delicious sweet spot is nestled in a quaint row of nicely landscaped shops one block north of 163rd St. Walking into Le Chocolatier is like walking into a sweet-smelling, sugar-coated dream. As soon as you enter, you’re able to see the factory through the windows, which will definitely inspire a Willy Wonka flashback. Display cases are filled with freshly prepared chocolates, nicely presented by type — white, milk and dark — and by an assortment of fillings and flavors ranging from cherries and sliced oranges to hazelnut, tequila, ganaches of all sorts and truffles, truffles and more truffles. Also available are chocolate-covered pretzels, biscotti and graham crackers. Each piece of chocolate has a beautiful colored design that adds to the decadence of the noshing experience.
For those watching their sugar intake, Le Chocolatier also has a nice selection of sugar-free snacks; as a bonus for all of those lactose-intolerant folks who thought they couldn’t partake in this type of revelry, there’s also have a wide selection of non-dairy (Parve) indulgences, too. If that weren’t enough, Le Chocolatier also hosts chocolate-making birthday parties during which you can create your very own delights. Invited to a get-together or looking for a unique gift? They specialize in chocolate moldings of everything from baby carriages and pianos to footballs and solid heart boxes – a fun and surprising way to escape bringing over the obligatory “box of chocolates.”
