Added to the long list of recent Miami restaurant closures: The District (190 NE 46th St.) in Miami’s Design District and Moye (80 SW Eighth St.) in Brickell. The District opened in October 2013, Moye in October 2014.
A tipster says District ownership stripped the restaurant of its art, even its wood and brick, and left unpaid staff with tough-luck parting words:
“Money is power. I have money. So I have the power!”
Horacio Rivadero, who earned a semifinalist Best Chef nomination from the James Beard Foundation while at the District, left in May to lead the kitchen at the new Tantalize (330 Lincoln Rd.) in Miami Beach.
Moye, meanwhile, was sister restaurant to Campania, which closed in June after a short run at 4029 N. Miami Ave. in Miami, and Sardinia, 1801 Purdy Ave., in Miami Beach.
