Tacos are damn cheap – and delicious. The perfect recession/depression/saving my money for drinks food. Here are some of our favorite places to indulge, recover and eat like a king for a few bucks.
Grill it and we will come – Lime Fresh Mexican Grill opens its fifth location in Midtown next month. Corn and flour tacos come paired with all natural beef, seasonal fish, chicken and veggie.

The South Beach taco is an elusive animal. Find it quick and cheap at Lincoln Road’s Chismosa Taqueria. Chicken, pork, beef, vegetarian, steak and fish tacos are all on the menu, as are shots of Patron and Jose Cuervo (this is South Beach).

Late-night food in Kendall finds new meaning at 24-hour Ernesto’s Taco Shop. Navigate the strip mall (this is Kendall) and order up the three amigos – three soft tacos filled with pork, chicken and beef.

Loyal followers brave the line and eat their tacos fresh off the grill at traveling cart Orale. Check the schedule (Tues-Thurs at NW 17 St & NW 27 Ave, Sat & Sun at SW 28 St & SW 37 Ave) and come prepared to wait. Use the time to contemplate the perfect combination of onion, cilantro, pico de gallo, radishes and lime add-ons.

The Tex-Mex taco is a different breed. Lost and Found Saloon serves its with flour tortillas, shredded cheese and cole slaw. Arrive anytime and indulge in the breakfast taco filled with scrambled eggs, cheese, lettuce and tomato.

California meets the taco at Hallandale’s Surf Road Taco. Think predictably thematic names (The Baja) and loads of avocado. Try the OC Veggie Taco with grilled zucchini, peppers, portabella, tomato and – of course- spicy avocado sauce.

Head south to Homestead’s La Quebradita and bring your appetite. The Gordito comes to play – a thick fried tortilla bun bundled with pork, refried pinto beans, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream.

Get specific at Cheen-Huaye, where chef Marco Velaszquez specializes in Mexican Yucatecan cuisine. Tacos al pastor are stuffed with marinated pork, grilled with pineapple and onions and served with refried beans, guacamole and salsa verde.

Calle Ocho meets Mexico at Taqueria El Mexicano. Beef and pork each come three ways (carne asada, picadillo, barbacoa, carnitas, al pastor and chorizo). Choose three and pair with rice, beans and salad.
