Taco & Tequila Showdown to pair Miami's best tortilla stuffers and spirits slingers

Some of Miami’s top chefs will compete in a charity Taco & Tequila Showdown (#TNTShowdown) from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Vagabond, 7301 Biscayne Blvd., in Miami.

The event, organized by The Liquid Projects and MIAbites, will benefit Miami’s Urban Oasis Project and its efforts to make farm-fresh produce available and affordable to all.

Led by host chef Alex Chang of the Vagabond, about a dozen local chefs will try to craft the standout taco for guests and a panel of judges.

The chefs can use whatever ingredients they want, including from a Farmers Market Table provided by Urban Oasis. The tacos will be paired with top-shelf tequila cocktails from Miami mixologists.

Participating chefs (and restaurants):

Alex Chang (Vagabond)

Chef Bee (Oishi Thai)

Giorgio Rapicavoli (Eating House)

Steve Santana (Taquiza)

Brett Chiavari (BC Tacos)

Aaron Brooks (Edge)

Todd Erickson (Huahua’s)

Chef Jeremiah (GastroPod)

Richard Hales (Centro Taco)

Brad Kilgore (Alter)

Niven Patel (Michael’s Genuine)

Tickets are $65 in advance, $70 at the door and will be available starting Tuesday through Eventbrite.com
