Swine Southern seeks new top chef as Jacob Anaya leaves Miami for California

Jacob Anaya

Another kitchen shakeup at a 50 Eggs restaurant: Jacob Anaya, out as executive chef of Swine Southern Table & Bar (2415 Ponce de Leon Blvd.) in Coral Gables.

“Anaya left Swine and the 50 Eggs, Inc. team … in order to return to California to be near his family and pursue other culinary opportunities,” according to a statement from John Kunkel’s restaurant group. “50 Eggs is currently pursuing options for the new executive chef at Swine.”

Anaya had been at Swine since March, when he was transferred there from 50 Eggs’ Khong River House, where he was hired as chef de cuisine in January. Khong closed this month, and Kunkel said he is exploring relocation options for the Northern Thai restaurant.

Before joining the 50 Eggs group, Anaya was executive chef of OTC (1250 S. Miami Ave.) in Brickell and of Azul (500 Brickel Key Dr.) prior to that.

In other chefs-leaving-South-Florida news: Lisa Odom, chef de cuisine at Oolite (1661 Pennsylvania Ave.) in Miami Beach and previously chef de cuisine of Tongue & Cheek (431 Washington Ave.) on the beach, is moving to Washington, D.C., to help chef Edward Lee open his new Southern-inspired restaurant, Succotash.
