New York-based chef-restaurateur Scott Conant is expanding his Italian-food empire to include a second South Florida restaurant, at Turnberry Isle Miami in Aventura.
Reps for Conant confirm the news, with The Man Himself chiming in on a Twitter direct message: “Yep! It’s going to be fun.”
Conant’s new Turnberry restaurant, rumored to replace the resort’s Cascata Grill, will be about 10 miles up the road from his Scarpetta at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. (Scarpetta received a rare four-star review from the Miami Herald and Miami.com in 2009.)
No word yet on whether the concept will be another Scarpetta, which has outposts in Beverly Hills, Las Vegas and Toronto in addition to its New York flagship.
It does mean another shared venue for Conant and fellow big-time chef Michael Mina, who also operates restaurants at the Fontainebleau (Michael Mina 74 and the forthcoming StripSteak) and the Turnberry (Bourbon Steak).
Hat tip to our own Sara Liss for the heads up.
