Pubbelly's L'echon Brasserie closes in Miami Beach

L'echon Brasserie

The Pubbelly Restaurant Group has closed L’echon Brasserie, its French concept at the Hilton Cabana Miami Beach, 6261 Collins Ave. It’s the latest in this summer’s brutal rash of restaurant closures that includes the Pubbelly-affiliated Barceloneta South Miami (Barceloneta’s South Beach location remains open).

L’echon opened one year ago to rave food reviews but reservations about its somewhat difficult-to-find location inside the hotel. Soon after the restaurant’s opening last summer, Pubbelly closed its PB Steak in Miami Beach’s Sunset Harbour neighborhood, citing rising rent.

Pubbelly partners Andreas Schreiner, Jose Mendin and Sergio Navarro said their split with the local Hilton operator will allow both parties to focus on upcoming projects. The Pubbelly Group (Pubbelly, Pubbelly Sushi, Barceloneta South Beach) is opening PB Station and a rooftop lounge called Pawn Broker at 121 SE First St. in Miami this year.

The group also is partnering with Norwegian Cruise Line to start a food hall, Food Republic, on its newest ship, launching this fall. And there are plans to expand the Pubbelly brand into Mexico and the Dominican Republic in 2016.
