The space: The 60-seat former 18th St. Café has a clean and streamlined feel with large picture windows, vintage wallpaper, sculptures commissioned from local artists and copper lanterns synonymous with New Orleans’ French Quarter.
The dishes: Oyster bar classics. Serfer pays homage to the great oyster halls of New Orleans and New York while also remaining true to his belly-filling culinary leanings. Prices are in line with well-sourced seafood: starters $8-$18 and mains $22-$29.
Check the board above the bar for the day’s fresh oysters, which can also be ordered on the half-shell ($32/dozen) or Bienville- or Rockefeller-style. Starters include fresh-baked croissants with lobster butter, crab cocktail and lobster deviled eggs. A “popcorn” section of the menu is a rotation of golden fried clam, conch, shrimp and oysters.
Mains include monkfish with broccolini, lobster sauce and smoked trout roe, and a shareable prime rib.
