Ambience: The 240-square-foot South of Fifth space is essentially a takeout counter that provides local delivery for $2.50 (even to the beach).
The grub: Peruvian-inspired raw fish plus Mexican dishes. Prices are moderate — ceviche $11.75-$14.75, fish tacos (pictured) $3.50 and seafood burritos $10.
Ceviche — available in six styles including coconut, aji amarillo and Asian — comes with a side of popcorn, a wedge of boiled sweet potato and a hunk of corn on the cob. Massive burritos are built from fresh corn, baby tomatoes and sticky jasmine rice with creamy sauce on the side. Salads include tomato and avocado, chopped and mango slaw. Guacamole with chips, crispy plantains, creamy barbecue corn and frozen Paulina’s Pops are among the other offerings.
Verdict: An upscale chef presents fresh, affordable seafood in a tiny takeout spot.
