Michelle Bernstein is getting into the Art Basel game again, offering two dining situations at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, one fancier than the other.
The fancy one, Michy’s Pop Up, will feature “a diverse selection of light and appetizing tapas, starters, plats de resistance and desserts.” Reservations are a must for this one, serving from Dec. 3-6 in the garden’s Banyan Room.
Then there’s the more-casual Garden Cafe, open Dec. 1-7 for lunch. No reservations required.
Both could be good places to spot important people. For more information, go to michyspopup.com.
In the meantime, here’s an idea of what Bernstein will be serving at the reservations-only pop-up:
Starters: Honey-roasted pears and shaved raw pears with arugula, endive, shaved manchego, chervil, chives and parsley.
Plats de Resistance: Salt-crusted yellowtail snapper, ragout of baby artichokes, spinach, olives, grape tomato, fish fumet, Moroccan couscous.
Desserts: Michy’s bread pudding, raisins, cognac, chocolate chunks, orange rind, vanilla ice cream.
Tapas: Roasted butternut squash with sesame and pumpkin seed; salt and pepper royal red shrimp with serranos; Jamón iberico de bellota.
In other Bernstein news, the chef on Friday was honored with Les Dames d’Escoffier’s achievement award (pic here is of her with her dad and husband at the event). She’s the second recipient of the Miami chapter’s annual award; the first, last year, was Michael Schwartz. Bernstein told Miami.com during the event that the anticipated opening of her renovated Michy’s has been pushed to January.
