The man who brought you Harry’s Pizzeria and Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink isn’t done creating.
Michael Schwartz is offering a sneak peek of the menu at his upcoming restaurant in the SLS Brickell Hotel, Fi’lia (a play on the Italian word for daughter, a tribute to his own two daughters) as part of Miami Spice at MGFD in the Design District this week.
The new restaurant will be Schwartz’s take on Italian cuisine, focusing on housemade pasta and bread. Schwartz started off as a busboy in a Philadelphia Italian restaurant and his James Beard Award-winning experience spans time working alongside those, such as Wolfgang Puck, who made freshness and seasonal, locally sourced ingredients a priority.
It will be the fourth South Florida restaurant concept for Schwartz: His MGFD turns 10 in March; Harry’s Pizzeria expanded from the Design District to Coconute Grove; and Cypress Tavern recently was revamped and received a 3 1/2 star Miami Herald review in Midtown.
The Fi’lia menu will be available at MGFD through Sunday.
