Five great Miami cooking classes

Five South Florida cooking classes where making the food is just as enjoyable as eating it: 

1. Azul at the Mandarin Oriental 

Chef de cuisine William Crandall (pictured) launches a hands-on, gourmet instructional series Dec. 13 from Azul’s marble- and steel-clad open kitchen. Each class finishes with a three-course meal with wines paired by Azul sommelier Todd Phillips. Classes are 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Schedule: Dec. 13 (Holidays), March 8 (Spring), June 7 (Summer Seafood), July 12 (Grilling), Nov. 15 (Turkey). $175.

2. Ortanique on the Mile

Once a month (Saturdays) from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., chef Cindy Hutson leads an interactive preparation of her signature dishes, complete with wine pairings. $108.

3. Kitchen 305

Sake Sushi Mondays, weekly at 6:30 p.m., feature sushi-rolling sessions with Chef Nono, including a three-course dinner with cocktails and sake. $35.

4. Bocce 

Chef Nunzio offers customizable classes in homemade pasta- and mozzarella-making, teaching guests about the history of the foods and their native regions in Italy. Welcome cocktails and wine pairings included. $100.

5. Real Food Academy

Classes teach adults and kids to cook healthy and tasty dishes. Holiday-cooking schedule: 7-10 p.m. Dec. 18 ($65) and 10-11:30 a.m. Dec. 20 for kids 3-13 ($35).
