Two upcoming dining events aim to combine great eating with charitable causes.
Up first: Chef Norman Van Aken will emcee the United Cerebral Palsy of South Florida’s annual Buen Provecho fundraising dinner at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Cruz Building, 3157 Commodore Plz., Coconut Grove. In Broward County, modern Japanese restaurant Kuro at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino hosts a Friends of James Beard Foundation benefit dinner at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30. Kuro chef Alex Becker will be joined by Food Network star Robert Irvine as well as Beard Foundation award-winning chefs Allen Susser, Christopher Lee and Van Aken, plus Dahlia Narvaez, Beard-nominated pastry chef of Mozza in Los Angeles.
