Saying hello to a new chef at Azul and goodbye to another at Eos

  • Azul, the former stomping grounds of Michelle Bernstein and Clay Conley, welcomes a new chef de cuisine this month – chef Joel Huff. Huff will be arriving from the Tydes Restaurant and Coral Café in Santa Barbara and has trained under famed ched José Andrés  in Beverly Hills and Washington, DC. His new menu, scheduled to debut at the end of the month, will fuse modern European, American and Asian cuisines with local seasonal ingredients.
  • In other news, chef Michael Psilakis announced yesterday that he is leaving Eos at the Viceroy. Seems his heart remains further north- Psilakis recently opened FISHTAG in Manhattan and is executive of NYC’s Kefi.
  • Just next door, Area 31’s new executive chef Michael Reidt debuts his new coastal-inspired menu this week. The menu blends “American sensibilities” with fish from the sustainable waters of Area 31 and local ingredients. Look for items like cocoa crusted scallop and pork belly (pictured) and jumbo lump crab salad.
