A kitchen change-up at one of Miami’s newest restaurants: Former Top Chef: Masters contestant Herb Wilson is out as executive chef of Red Ginger, which opened June 19 at 736 First St. in Miami Beach.
Menin Hospitality (Bodega, Radio Bar, Pizza Bar) brought the lauded New York and Las Vegas chef to South Florida to helm its new Asian-inspired restaurant in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood. “I am eager to be a part of this amazing concept and hopefully offer Miami a new and exciting dining experience,” Wilson said at the time.
Now, however, “Herb Wilson is no longer part of the Menin Hospitality culinary team,” says Chad Fabrikant, a spokesman for the group.
Fabrikant notes that the restaurant has been off to a busy start, and that chef Anderson Osorio — previously of Makoto, Ceviche 105, Barrio Latino and SushiSamba — is ably leading the kitchen.
“Over the next several weeks, chef Osorio will add his creative touches to the already-successful menu,” Fabrikant says.
