Caviar and Champagne: Not just for deep pockets in the Grove

The Spillover hopes to bring caviar to millennials. (Handout)

Champagne wishes and caviar dreams aren’t just for the rich and famous, anymore.

The new, casual Spillover restaurant in Coconut Grove is starting a nightly caviar and champagne happy hour, Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The goal, chef/owner Matt Kuscher said, is to introduce caviar to a new audience, without the white linen and pretense.

The Spillover, Kuscher’s third Miami restaurant, focuses on high-quality seafood and craft ciders and meads (an ancient form of alcohol made from honey). So the caviar theme fits in their seafood theme.

“We feel it’s our responsibility to educate the newer foodies of Miami on caviar, in a way as to not feel intimidated and offer those expert caviar lovers already in the know, a remarkable value,” he said.

Two glasses of Champagne and a 30 gram-serving (just over an ounce) of Petrossian caviar will cost $75.
