The who: The ONE Group expands their Miami empire with this new STK, located downtown at the ME Miami hotel.
The space: Like its South Beach sibling, this nightlife-friendly steakhouse sticks with a cavernous design, with soaring ceilings, neon sculptures and oversized flower arrangements. Located on the ground floor of the Marquis Miami condo building, the dining room is outfitted in cushy semicircular booths, pendant lighting and a sleek bar.
The dishes: Modern steakhouse. Prices are in line with the posh surroundings: starters average $16, steaks and seafood range $28-$92.
Bread service here sets the tone for a decadent feast: a warm popover glistening with blue cheese butter served with chive oil on the side. From there you could start with an order of mahi ceviche but most diners dig the “lil’ burgers” mini-wagyu sliders on sesame buns.
Steaks include the 8-ounce skirt steak and top out at with a 34-ounce cowboy rib (fit for two). Somewhere in between is a nicely aged 10-ounce loin strip and the 14-ounce bone-in filet. Each steak comes with a sauce, including a horseradish or a chimichurri. Pricey steak-toppers include foie gras butter, black truffles or lobster. Sides of parmesan truffle fries that come stacked like logs round out the gluttony, as do Miami-specific sides, such as the jalapeno-spiced grits.
Desserts include carrot cake, apple cake and mini-churro doughnuts.
Bottom line: The massively chic modern steakhouse expands to the mainland with copious steaks and cocktails.
